Two Casualties Cut Free From Serious Crash In Blackburn

Two casualties were extricated from a vehicle by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a serious road traffic collision in Blackburn.

The collision happened between two vehicles on Friday night shortly before 9pm on Brokenstone Road.

All three emergency services attended the scene with the road closed whilst emergency services carried out their work and investigators worked at the scene.

Two casualties had to be cut free from one vehicle by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service using Holmatro equipment.

In a statement released on Friday night, Lancashire Police said,

“We want to update you and let you know that the crossroad linking Bog Height Road, Heys Lane, Broken Stone Road and Tockholes Road is currently closed due to a road traffic collision.

We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time whilst we assess the situation.
In the meantime, we’d recommend avoiding the area and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.

They have since reopened the road as of 9.30am on Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said,

At 21:03 on Friday, 20th September 2024, two fire engines from Blackburn attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Brokenstone Road, Blackburn.

Fire service personnel extricated two casualties from the vehicles using lighting and Holmatro equipment. Crews were detained for approximately two hours.

It is unknown at this time what injuries the casualties sustained in this collision, and we’ll update this once Lancashire Police release a statement.
