A Gofund Me page set up for a teenager who lost his leg after being hit by a speeding car in Bradford at the weekend has raised over £5,000.
West Yorkshire Police had spotted a car driving above the speed limit and decided to turn around and follow it before it disappeared out of sight on Saturday night along Halifax Road. Whilst travelling down the road officers came across the injured teen laying in the road.
The 17-year-old named as Kayden, was rushed to hospital were he remains in a critical condition.
A family friend set up a Gofund Me page to support the family at this mist difficult of times. In a statement published on their fundraising page, Michaela, a family friend, wrote,
“I am a good friend of Carole’s who has given me the go-ahead to set up this page for her son Kayden
On 16/09/2024 Kayden set off on his trip to Tescos for some snacks with his friends he came out of Tesco’s (Halifax Road) to the crossing when the lights went red he new he could cross however no one knew what was to happen next Kayden began crossing the road and a car come speeding through the red lights doing over 100mph and unfortunately the worst happened Kayden was run over & was rushed to LGI where his mum, dad & brothers followed in police cars.
Kayden is still in hospital in a coma still in a critical condition due to his injuries, he’s been in theatre twice for major life changing operations which one led to him having to have his leg off up to his thigh Carole’s family & friends all count there lucky stars Kayden is still here today however he will have to be in hospital for weeks until he recovers it’s going to be one hell of a journey for his family & friends.
Carole is a mother of 6, and all of there life’s have been turned upside down. Due to Kayden’s injuries his life has changed forever which means his mum has to give up work to be his full time carer which means there will be hard days where they will struggle financially & the house will need adapting to what Kayden will need.
Kayden is 17 years young & this should not of happened he already suffers from Autism so him leaving the house to go to the shop is already a massive thing for Kayden (he spends the majority of the time at home)
so where kindly asking the community even if it’s 50p please let’s help and support this family, help them get Kayden a nice bedroom for him to come home to which will be suited for him as well as changes around the house which will need doing & Christmas been round the corner! This is going to be a long road to recovery for himself and his whole family.
we kindly thank everyone for your kindness.
