The car failed to stop at the scene and officers are hunting the driver.
A 17-year-old boy is today fighting for his life in hospital following a horrific crash in Bradford last night.
The collision happened following a pursuit shortly before 8:30pm in the Halifax Road area of Bradford.
A car travelling at speed collided with the innocent pedestrian leaving him in the road with horrific injuries before failing to stop at the scene, with eyewitnesses describing the shocking scenes to what is believed to be a severed leg laying in the road.
In a statement released today, West Yorkshire Police said,
“At 20.25 yesterday evening (16 September) a marked police car sighted a vehicle on the opposite carriageway believed to be travelling above the speed limit on Halifax Road, Bradford.
As the patrol car turned around to the opposite carriageway, the suspect vehicle was now out of sight.
Officers then located a pedestrian on Halifax Road who had been hit by the suspect vehicle which had failed to stop at the scene.
A 17 year old male suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The road is currently closed whilst police investigations are carried out.
Enquiries are ongoing this morning to locate the driver of the vehicle.
