One Person Rescued Following Burnley Explosion

One person was rescued from the blast this afternoon in Brunswick Street.

A joint investigation is now underway to establish the exact cause of the blast.

Emergency services rushed to a property in Burnley this afternoon, Saturday 14th September, to reports of an explosion.

The blast happened shortly after 1.30pm on Brunswick Street in the town. One person was rescued from the property. The nature of any injuries, if any, is not known at this time.

Two fire engines and an Urban Search & Rescue unit were dispatched to the scene.

A cordon remained in place whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said,

“Two fire engines from Burnley and the Urban and Search and Rescue Team from Bamber Bridge and Chorley were called to an explosion on Brunswick Street, Burnley.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and one hose reel, and they rescued one person from the property.

A joint police and fire investigation is underway.
