Gas Ruled Out As Cause Of Manchester House Blast Say Cadent As Joint Investigation Underway

The explosion took place at a terraced property at around 6:30pm on Friday night.

A joint investigation is now underway between Greater Manchester fire & Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police following the blast on Friday night.

Emergency services attended the scene in Coatbridge Street at around 6:30pm to reports of an explosion at a terraced house.

A cordon was put in place around the scene whilst emergency services worked at the location alongside Cadent Gas Engineers.

One person was treated for injuries by North West Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for Cadent Gas said: “Our team has completed a full inspection of the gas pipes in the road and inside the affected property. All gas pipes are sound.

“We have been asked by the building inspector to cut off the gas supply to the affected property.

“It is now for the police and fire service to complete their investigation into the cause.”

Two men aged in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis after officers discovered a cannabis grow at the property.
