Rumbsy was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court at a later date.
Detectives have today, Wednesday 11 September, charged a man with possessing indecent images of children.
In a statement released today, Merseyside Police said,
“Yesterday, Tuesday 10 September, officers attended an address in Knowsley and arrested a man on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.
Two electronic devices were seized and were found have indecent images and video files of children on them.
William Rumsby, 73 years, of Little Moss Hey, Stockbridge Village, has been charged with possess indecent photograph of a child, three counts of make indecent photograph of a child and failing to comply with the sex offender register.
Rumsby appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Remand Court today, Wednesday 11 September, and has been remanded in custody until Wednesday 9 October to appear at Liverpool Crown Court.
Detective Inspector Graeme Kehoe added: “If you have experienced any form of sexual abuse, or know of a child being abused, please come forward and report this to police.
“We take all such reports extremely seriously and if you can find the courage to come forward and speak to us we have specially trained officers who will treat you with sensitivity and compassion.”
