The attack happened on Saturday night at around 9.30pm at Preston Train Station.
A man has been charged with attempting to murder a British Transport Police Officer following a stabbing at Preston Train Station.
Emergency services, including armed Police rushed to the train station at around 9.30pm on Saturday night following the incident.
A British Transport Police officer and member of rail staff suffered injuries during the attack.
In a statement released today, British Transport Police said,
A man in his 50s has been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault at Preston railway station.
At around 9.30pm on 7 September, a British Transport Police officer was on duty when he was seriously assaulted. Paramedics also attended and the officer was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with being stabbed. Thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.
Russel Smith, 53, of Shakespeare Road, Preston, has been charged with one count of Attempted Murder and one count of Possession of a Bladed Article. He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Preston Magistrates Court this morning.
