Although the specific breed of the dogs are unknown they are not believed to be XL Bullys.

Police confirmed following an incident one dog has been shot by officers after less lethal force was unsuccessful in trying to bring it under control.

This was following an incident were officers were called to reports of a disturbance this morning in which three people were arrested.

In a statement released today, Lincolnshire Police said,

“Officers have attended an incident in the area of Retief Close and Queen Elizabeth Road, Lincoln this morning following a disturbance.   As a result three people have been arrested and remain in custody.

During the incident two dogs escaped and at least one man has been injured.  He has been taken to hospital with injuries to his arm.

As the dogs posed an ongoing danger to the public, officers have tried sedating the dogs with darts.  This did not change the behaviour of one dog who continued to be aggressive and it was shot and has been despatched.  The second dog has been taken to the vets for treatment.  While the specific breed of the dogs are not yet proven, we can confirm they are not XL Bullys.

Officers remain in the area and we will provide further details when we can.
