Police Recover Gun After Pursuit In Blackpool

A firearm was later recovered after an item was thrown from the bike during the pursuit.

A man has been arrested following a pursuit in Blackpool.

The incident happened yesterday evening just after 7pm when an electric bike failed to stopped for officers.

The rider was later seen to throw an item from the bike, which was recovered and identified as a firearm.

A 21-year-old man from the resort was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, and drug offences.

In a statement, Lancashire Police said,

“You will have seen a large police presence on Dean Street, Blackpool, last night (September 5) and we want to explain why. Around 7.09pm, the rider of an E-bike failed to stop when requested by our officers.

“A pursuit followed and the rider was seen to throw an item during the pursuit. A firearm was later recovered.

“No one was injured during the incident. A 21-year-old man from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

“He is currently in custody.”
