Fire crews extricated the casualty using small hand tools, stabilisation struts and Holmatro cutting gear and was later conveyed to hospital.
Fire crews were on scene approximately fifty minutes.
The collision attracted a group of onlookers who raised their concerns about the junction.
In a social media post, one resident said, “First and foremost, I hope all involved in the RTC at Broughton crossroads are ok.
Secondly, this is yet further evidence that the current traffic control arrangements simply are not fit for purpose at the crossroads.
Yes, driver error forms a part of this issue, there is no denying that. But surely we must do all we can to reduce the probability of driver error and prevent an inevitable fatality.
It comes after a number of accidents at the junction, which is situated next to the Texaco Petrol station, the former Touch of Spice Indian restaurant that is now apartments, and the Broughton Inn. Residents are calling for traffic lights to be installed at the junction to reduce the amount of accidents.
