Alan sadly died on Sunday afternoon after being stabbed in Monk Bretton.
Detectives investigating the death of a man in Barnsley at the weekend have been authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service to charge a 21-year-old man.
In a statement released today, South Yorkshire Police said,
“A Barnsley man has been charged with murder following the death of Alan Sutton.
On Sunday (1 September) at 4.23pm, we received a call informing us of an altercation between a group of men on Burton Road in Monk Bretton.
Upon emergency services’ arrival, a 41-year-old man now known as Alan Sutton, was found with suspected stab wounds to his chest.
Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Callum Strachen, 21, of Burton Road, Barnsley, was arrested and has since been charged with murder. He remains in police custody and will appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (5 September).
