17-year-old From Wigan Charged With Attempted Murder Following Morecambe Stabbing

The 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons was remanded into custody to appear at Preston Youth Court next week.

Detectives investigating the stabbing of a man in Morecambe last weekend have charged a 17-year-old from Wigan.

In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said,

“We have charged a teenager following an incident in Morecambe last weekend in which a man was stabbed.

Emergency services were called to Kensington Road at 6.45pm on Saturday 31st August and a man in his 50s was found to have suffered stab injuries.

A 17-year-old boy from Billinge, Wigan, was arrested on Sunday following enquiries.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, the boy was charged with attempted murder, robbery, and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He appeared before Lancaster Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was remanded in youth detention to appear at Preston Youth Court on 10th September.
