Callous thief stole charity boxes from local chippy after throwing a brick through the window in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A local chip shop in Lostock Hall has been targeted by a callous thief who threw a brick through the window and stole charity boxes containing donations.
The incident happened at the Vic Chippy in Victoria Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning when an unknown person on a pushbike threw a brick causing damage to the shop front window and stealing three charity boxes containing around £300 in donations for St Catherine’s Hospice, Air Ambulance and Breast Cancer charities.
Residents took to a local community group to voice their dismay, describing the damage and theft as disgusting.

One poster said, “This is absolutely disgusting after everything you have donated to our community.”
Another went on to say, “After all the kids meals you gave out for people struggling. Shameful!
“We’ve all been disgusted and upset today at Vic Chippy being robbed of all the Charity boxes through the smashed window,” says another member, who went on to say,
“I was going to set up a fundraising page to help replace the money but they take a % so rather than do that, let’s all as a grateful community try to do this ourselves So if Stan can provide a collection box let’s all call in with enveloped donations so he can replace the money that the mindless uncaring person stole and let’s smash the amount with a massive community donation.”
“We are all so sorry and that this happened Stan but we are all behind you. You are a massive part of our community and hopefully can replace the money and fingers crossed that the moron is found, named and shamed. He/she will have bragged to someone today, so be a better person and make that call to the Police.”

The owner Stan Watson, posted on Lostock Hall Community Facebook page thanking members of the community for their help, in a post he said,
“Got called into work at 4:30am. Brick thrown through the window someone on a bike! No need! So we have cleaned up me, Kiera Watson & Regan (4hrs) thanks to everyone that has helped.”

He finished by asking people not to point fingers or speculate on the culprit.
