Police Currently Dealing With M61 Incident Advise Motorists Against Playing Football On The Hard Shoulder

Police are warning motorists about playing football on the hardshoulder as emergency vehicles attending incident.

Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident on the M61 between Junction 5 and junction 6 tonight.

Both carriageways of the motorway have been closed whilst emergency services deal with this incident.

Motorists held up in the traffic are being advised against walking around the carriageways and playing football on the hardshoulder as emergency vehicles continue to make way to the scene.

In a post NW Motorway Police said,

“We are currently dealing with an incident on M61 between junctions 5 and junction 6 both carriageways have been stopped, please be patient.

Patrols advising that there are people playing football on the hard shoulder and walking about the carriageway – we still have emergency vehicles making to this scene – someone is going to get hurt .”
