Fire Rips Through Commercial Building At Ocean Edge Caravan Holiday Park

Members of the public are being advised to avoid the area and closed windows if they smell smoke.

Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service was called to a commercial building fire shortly after 7am this morning.

The fire happened at a commercial premises at Ocean Edge Caravan Holiday Park, part of the Parkdean Resorts on Moneyclose Lane in Heysham.

The fire is believed to have started in the clubhouse building.

Members of the public are being advised to avoid the area and if they smell or see smoke to keep windows and doors closed.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said,

“At 07:04 on 01 September, eight fire engines from Lancaster, Morecambe, Bolton-le-Sands, Carnforth, Hornby, and Silverdale, together with an aerial ladder platform and a water tower appliance, attended a commercial building fire on Moneyclose Lane, Heysham.

Firefighters used two main jets and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. No casualties were reported.

Crews are likely to remain in attendance for some time. If you are affected by smoke, please keep all windows and doors closed. Avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Ocean Edge Holiday Park said in a social media post this morning,

“Due to an ongoing incident on park, the facilities will remain closed until further notice.

Because of the incident the power to some of the park has been turned off, with no timescale currently available

For anyone that is looking to exit the park from the bottom half, please do so by travelling up C Row and continue straight on, through a small opening and turn left to exit
