Seven people recieved injuries that police confirm are not believed to be life-threatening.
The M6 motorway between Junction 27 and Junction 28 was completely closed in both directions yesterday afternoon after a collision involving a lorry travelling northbound overturned.
The collision happened on Friday afternoon shortly after 2pm causing major traffic delays heading into rush hour and for those travelling to Blackpool for the Illumination switch on.
The lorry could be seen overturned blocking all three lanes with it load completely shed across the carriageways.
Emergency services rushed to the scene including the North West Air Ambulance. Seven people suffered injuries as a result of the collision with police later confirming that all seven recieved non-life threatening injuries.
In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said,
“Yesterday we told you that the M6 was closed in both directions due to a collision involving a HGV, a campervan and a car on the northbound carriage of Junction 27.
Seven people suffered injuries, although none are thought to be life-threatening.
The collision caused considerable damage to the central reservation and the HGV has also shed its load.
Although repair work is ongoing and are likely to go into this evening, two lanes on the northbound carriageway and one lane on the southbound carriageway have now been re-opened.
Thank you for your ongoing patience. Please allow for extra travel time and find alternative routes if possible.
