M6 Now Reopened As Man Arrested

A 36-year-old man from Preston has been arrested confirm Lancashire Police.

Lancashire Police closed the motorway this afternoon and advised they were dealing with a concern for welfare.

The incident happened at Junction 33 of the M6 Northbound, causing huge traffic delays for motorists this afternoon.

National Highways posted on X,

“Traffic has been held on the #M6 in both directions between J34 Lancaster and J33 Lancaster in Lancashire for a @LancsPolice led incident.

There are delays of 30 minutes approaching the incident in both directions.

Lancashire Police have since confirmed that the motorway has now reopened and that a man has been arrested as part of an investigation into the unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.

In an update released this afternoon, Lancashire Police said,

We know that many of you have been impacted by the closure of the M6 at Junction 33.

The motorway has now re-opened.
