PC Nelson and his colleagues ran to the aid of the lady throwing a life ring out and pulling her to safety.
Lancashire Police officers sprung into action earlier this week when a woman slipped down the sea wall at Blackpool landing inches away from the water that was rising with the high tides.
In a post on social media, Lancashire Police said,
“Earlier this week, during the annual ‘Ride the Lights’ event in Blackpool, our officers were out and about making sure everyone was enjoying the evening safely.
Whilst PC Nelson was chatting to the public, looking out for anything untoward, he couldn’t have imagined what was about to unfold.
His attention was quickly brought to a lady who had fallen down to the sea after slipping off the sea defence walls just as the tide was starting to rapidly come in .
Knowing the danger she’d be in and thinking quickly, PC Nelson, along with his colleagues Sgt Higgs, PC Dixon and PC Walker, ran to her aid, throwing a life ring out and pulling her to safety.
Whilst the lady was shaken, she received medical attention and has now made a full recovery thanks to PC Nelson’s incredibly swift actions, which just go to show that our officers have to be ready to attend to any kind of emergency at all times.
