Detectives investigating the triple stabbing have released an update this afternoon.

In a statement released, Greater Manchester Police said,

“22-year-old man has now been placed under the detention of mental health professionals, following his arrest on Sunday 18 August 2024, whilst our enquiries into a triple stabbing continue.

We received reports that three people had been stabbed at a property on Barnard Road in Gorton. Everyone involved were known to one another.

All three were rushed to hospital, and despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 43-year-old woman has since passed away from her injuries.

The 64-year-old man remains in a critical condition, and the 17-year-old girl is now stable but received serious injuries.

Our specialist Family Liaison Officers continue to provide support to the family at this time, and we have a team of highly trained officers working around the clock to understand the full circumstances and support the community.
