Tributes have been paid to a man who sadly died after becoming trapped in a house fire in Wigan as detectives continue to investigate his murder.
In a stamenent released thisbl afternoon, Greater Manchester Police said,
“Last week, we launched a murder investigation after a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he later died from his injuries while in hospital. We can now name the victim as Mark Vernal.
At this time, we believe this is an arson attack which resulted in Mark’s tragic death.
in a tribute, Mark’s family, said: “He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend. Mark was taken in such tragic circumstances .
“He was a larger than life character and loved by many.
“Our hearts are broken beyond belief at the saddest of times and how cruelly Mark has been taken from our lives.
“We thank all of Mark’s wider family and friends for their messages and condolences.
“Love from all the family.”
Mark’s family have asked for privacy as they continue to grieve his loss.
