A man has been arrested today after an e-bike, which failed to stop for officers, was stopped after a short pursuit in the South Shore area of the resort.

In a social media update, Blackpool Police said,

“We would just like to update you with regards to an incident that myself, Dan and colleagues from the Blackpool Tac ops department have dealt with this evening.

We are often asked why we target E-bikes and anti-social driving in Blackpool. Well here’s why….

Whilst on Waterloo Road in Blackpool, Tac Ops officers have spotted an E-bike being driven at speed through red traffic lights. The bike has made off from officers but was quickly stopped and the driver was detained nearby by Dan and I.

The male was found to be both disqualified from driving and failed a roadside drugs test procedure. He was also arrested for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs after we located a mobile phone which he had tried to discard. This led to a search of the males property where we recovered both Class A & B drugs, Drugs paraphernalia, a large quantity of cash and an imitation firearm. He has now been arrested on suspicion of Possession with intent to supply as well as numerous other driving offences.

We will continue to target individuals who believe that they can drive illegally around the town committing crime and here is just one example of how this targeting can result in tackling larger criminality.
