Hero Yoga Teacher In Southport Stabbings Readmitted To Hospital

A hero yoga teacher who was critically injured as she fought to save children in the horrific Southport stabbing incident has been readmitted to hospital.

Leanne Lucas, 35, had organised a Taylor Swift themed dance class for children at the Hart Space Community Hub in Southport on Monday 29th July 2024 when tragedy struck.

A knifeman entered the building a launched a ferocious knife attack injuring thirteen people three of which was fatally wounded.

Sadly Bebe King, Alice Dasilva Aguiar and Elsie Dot Stancombe died of their injuries.

Eight other children and two adults were hospitalised in a critical condition after suffering multiple stab wounds.

All patients had been released from hospital to continue their recovery at home.

In an update posted to a Gofund Me page, family friends wrote,

“Unfortunately this week Leanne was readmitted to hospital due to struggling with her breathing.

“She is waiting for an operation for another drain on her lung due to infection.

“Leanne had barely begun her road to recovery.

“Please keep her in your thoughts and continue supporting her as you have been by sharing the page and donating anything you can.

“Thank you all from the Lucas family.”

The inquests into the deaths of Bebe, Alice and Elsie was formally opened at Bootle Town Hall in Merseyside on Wednesday 7 August, and adjourned.

Axel Rudakubana, 18, from Lancashire, is set to stand trial in 2025 after being charged with three counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He was remanded into custody.
