M6 Between J36-J38 Northbound To Be Closed Until Early Hours Following Fatal Crash

Emergency Services were called to the scene this morning at around 11am following reports of a collision on the M6 Northbound between junctions 36 and junction 38 between Kirby Lonsdale and Tebay.

Sadly, one person has reportedly died as a result of a single vehicle collision.

The carriageway has remained closed so that a full investigation to establish the cause of the collision can be undertaken. 

In a statement released today, Cumbria Police said,

The M6 northbound remains closed between junctions 36 and 38 this afternoon following a fatal road traffic collision involving a single vehicle earlier today (15 August).

The northbound carriageway is likely to remain closed for some time whilst police and partners continue their work at the scene of the incident, which occurred at around 11am.

National Highways have since reported that the motorway is expected to be cleared and returned to normal traffic conditijs by around 00:30 on Tuesday 16th August.
