Sussex Police have launched an investigation after a woman reported being kidnapped in the early hours of this morning in Hove.
In a statement released this evening, Sussex Police said,
“We are appealing for information following a report of a kidnap of a woman in Hove earlier today (5 August).
The victim was pulled into a dark coloured Mini car, which was parked on the corner of Selborne Road and Church Road at around 2am.
The Mini drove off, but the victim managed to escape from the car a short distance away. A member of the public called the police and she was taken to hospital and is being supported by specially trained officers.
The suspect was described as wearing a black tracksuit, a black baseball cap and a black balaclava.
Superintendent Petra Lazar said: “Every effort is being made to trace the vehicle and the suspect and we are appealing for information from any witnesses who may have seen this incident to call us on 101 quoting Operation Grangeway.
“We are aware that the community will be alarmed and concerned and we have increased police patrols and presence in the area. Anyone with concerns or any information can speak to those officers.”
