Emergency services, including Greater Manchester Police, North West Ambulance Service, and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, rushed to the scene of a multi vehicle collision in the St Helens Road area of Bolton yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened around 2pm on Monday  involving several vehicles.

Pictures from the scene show a police cordon in place and chaos as several damage vehicles, including one totally overturned, blocking the road.

It is not clear how many people were injured and reports suggest the driver of a crashed BMW run away from the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:

“At around 2pm on Monday (July 22) two fire engines from Bolton fire station and the Technical Response Unit from Ashton fire station attended reports of a crash involving several vehicles on St Helens Road, Bolton.

Firefighters made the vehicles and surrounding area safe and were in attendance for around one hour.”

We have approached GMP for further comments.
