Police Make Three More Arrests As Part Of Wallasey Shooting Investigation

Detectives investigating an injury shooting that took place in Wallasey June have made further arrests.

In a statement released today, Merseyside Police said,

“Detectives have arrested three people in connection with an injury shooting in Wallasey last month.

This morning, Wednesday 10 July, warrants were carried out.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life; Conspiracy to commit arson; and Theft of a motor vehicle. They are:
A 40-year-old man; a 36-year-old man; and a 34-year old woman, all from Wallasey.

All three have been taken to police stations for questioning.

On Saturday, 29 June, officers attended following reports that a man had been shot in the leg on Lucerne Road just before 11.20pm. A 33-year-old man from Sheffield was shot and taken to hospital for treatment of a leg injury.

Extensive enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector John Mullen from the Firearms Investigation Team (FIT) said: “We have now made a total of five arrests in connection with this incident and our investigation is very much ongoing.

“I’d continue to ask anyone with information who has yet to come forward to do so, either directly to police or anonymously via Crimestoppers, who operate completely independently of the police and will deal with information confidentially and with care.

“Merseyside Police is relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime on our streets to ensure they can be brought to justice so tell us what you know and we will continue to take positive action.”

Two men from Sheffield were previously arrested.
A 33-year-old man from Sheffield was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
A 35-year-old man from Sheffield was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Both remain on conditional bail.
