Police investigating the death of a man in Burnley have said they are no longer treating his death as a criminal inquiry.
Paul Inskip, 55, was found with serious injuries at an address in Burnley back in March this year. Detectives initially treated the death as suspicious, and an investigation was launched. Lancashire Police have since confirmed that following their investigation, this is no longer being treated as a criminal investigation and that a file can now be progressed to the coroners office.
In a statement released today, Lancashire Police said,
“Earlier this year we asked for your help after the death of a man from Burnley and we wanted to give you an update.
We were called to an address on Harley Street in the town at about 3.20pm on Saturday, March 2 after Paul Inskip was found with serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital but sadly died on Saturday, March 9th.
A postmortem examination showed Mr Inskip, 55, from Burnley died from a head injury.
Following thorough enquiries, we have now concluded the police investigation and Paul’s death is no longer being treated as a criminal enquiry. A file will be passed to HM Coroner and the matter will proceed to inquest.
Our thoughts remain with Paul’s loved ones at this time.
