A man who targeted mainly family run businesses in Lancaster has been handed a prison sentence of just over three years after being found guilty at Preston Crown Court.
In a social media update, Lancaster Area Police said,
“Mitchell BLAMIRE, 35 year olds, of 19 St Wilfrids Park, Halton, Lancaster has been found guilty of three burglaries of businesses in Lancaster City in May 2024.
He has been handed a three year, three month and 18 day sentence at Preston Crown Court. The courts heard that BLAMIRE over a couple of days forced his way into numerous businesses during the hours of darkness when they were closed, causing damage and stealing cash.
Some of the businesses were local family businesses causing them significant financial impact as they could not open up to the public straight away.
PC Shaun FOSTER the City Centre Community Beat Manager says that Lancashire Constabulary were able to identify and arrest BLAMIRE within four days of his crime spree and remanded him into jail pending the court case.
PC FOSTER would like to thank the public for their support. One local lady witnessed BLAMIRE running off from one burglary and phoned police straight away.
