Police are appealing for witnesses after two women reported being followed by a man acting suspiciously whilst out in Lytham.

In a social media appeal, Lancashire Police said,

“We are appealing for information after two reports of a man acting suspiciously towards women in Lytham.

The first incident happened on the morning of June 28th when a woman was walking around Fairhaven Lake when she noticed a man walking behind her. She stopped and pretended to take some pictures and the man walked off and hid behind some bushes. She waited for a friend and the man made off.

He was described as white, mid to late 20s, short brown hair, wearing a t-shirt, casual jacket and chinos.

The second incident happened on the same day at just after 11pm on Clifton Drive when a woman was followed by a man after she got off a bus. She said she felt threatened by the man who also appeared to take a picture of her.

He was described as white and about five ft 11ins tall.

We believe the incidents could be linked and we are appealing for information and asking people to be vigilant.

Insp Kate Buckingham, of Fylde Police, said: “I appreciate these reports may cause some concern and we are taking them very seriously. I would ask that if anyone has information or has experienced anything similar or who sees anyone matching the description acting suspiciously then please get in touch by calling 101. In an emergency, please call 999.”
