A prison officer has today been jailed after her secret relationship by Anti-Corruption officers unravelled following investigation.
In an update after sentencing, Greater Manchester Police said,
“A former officer has been jailed for four years and three months, after our anti-corruption detectives uncovered her secret relationship with a convicted murderer from her time as a prison officer.
Stephanie Heaps (32) was not only found to have abused her position in the police but also in her previous role in the prison service.
She resigned from the force soon after being faced with compelling evidence of her misconduct.
Her partner Leon Ramsden (35) and his associates have also been convicted and sentenced for their roles in money laundering, drug dealing, and a conspiracy to burgle.
DCI Adams said: “During our investigation, we were shocked by the actions of Stephanie Heaps and her brazen disregard for the standards required for both her roles in the police and the prison service.
“It’s clear Heaps should never be trusted to serve the public, and it is testament to the investigation team that she was only in uniform for a matter of months before she was taken away from frontline duties for good and now put rightly behind bars along with Ramsden and his associates.”
