A man who was found asleep in his vehicle was arrested by officers after blowing almost five times the legal limit when breathalysed at the roadside.
In a social media update, Lancashire Police said,
“There’s nothing worse than having your quick power nap disturbed, right?
But what if said nap in your car was disturbed by our officers after receiving a report suspecting you are drink driving?
Your day definitely couldn’t get any worse than that, right?
Unless you give an alcohol breathalyser reading of almost 5 times the limit …
Yep, you read that right.
Our officers disturbed the beauty sleep of one man in a car, on Roman Way, Preston at around 6:15pm yesterday after receiving a report suspecting he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was given a roadside breathalyser test and gave a reading of 170- almost 5 times the legal limit!
A 49-year-old man from Chorley was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle.
Once in custody, he gave a reading of 147. The legal limit is 35. The man remains in custody.
We will not tolerate people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is dangerous, and can change so many lives in an instant.
Driving impaired is a choice. You choose to get in your vehicle and endanger lives, including your own.
So, think about that before you consider getting in your car under the influence of drink or drugs.
If you suspect someone is drink or drug driving it is really important that you report it to us.
If a crime is ongoing, 999.
If you have information 101.
