Members of the public have taken to social media to voice their opinions on Katie Hopkins after she posted a video that shows her mocking the teenagers’ disappearance.

Jay Slater, 19, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, has not been seen since last Monday (17th June) after being reported missing on the Spanish Island of Tenerife.

Jay was attending the NRG Festival on the island over the weekend, reports state that he left the venue in the company of two British men in a car and went back to their holiday apartment which was miles away from where he was staying.

Jay made a call to a friend to say he was in the middle of nowhere with no water and only one percent left on his phone battery, he had missed the bus and his walk back would take him approximately eleven hours.

A large search operation has been underway ever since with specialist search dogs, drones, helicopters and mountain rescue teams scouring the area his phone last pinged which was in the Rural De Teno Park area of Masca a small village north of Tenerife.

His distraught family has flown out to the island, including his mum, father, and brother, who have made emotional pleas for jays safe return.

The search operation has entered its eighth day, and there is still no sign of Jay.

Online speculation of what may have happened to the missing teen has been dominating social media with multiple groups set up across Facebook, with vile messages left not only online but directly to the families’ and friends personal mobile phones including one chilling Snapchat that read, “Kiss your boy goodnight, you are never going to see him again”.

Katie Hopkins an English media personality, best known for her controversial opinions and far-right political commentary, has posted her own opinion on the disappearance of Jay Slater in her own post on social media that has got the public enraged.

In the short clip posted today to her social media page, she can be heard to say,

“The hunt for Jay Slater over in Tenerife goes on, some people have been saying, I shouldn’t say anything about Jay Slater, because oh, his poor mother and how would I like it. Quick message to you people, I’ll say what I bloody well like. My opinions are my opinions, I didn’t ask for you to agree with them, and if you want to take the moral high ground, you carry along. I never said I was on the moral high ground, and the thing about you being up there is that when I look up, I see you’re wearing no knickers. So don’t be preaching to me.

She went on to say,

“Jay Slater seems to have been a bit of a wrong un, and I have to say as a mother that if someone harmed one of my children, I would not rest until justice in my eyes had been served and frankly you can lock me up for that if you want to because I don’t value my freedom as much as I value having justice for my kids, and finally in the hunt for missing Jay Slater with all the people adding their helpful comments maybe if someone shouted “Dominoes” over the mountains in Tenerife you’d hear Jay Slater shout back “woo-hoo” or similar as he seems like that kind of guy like one of the guys from the original inbetweeners perhaps and as for the people donating to his gofund me well, you know crack on you do what you want to do with your money and I guess just like Jay did he does what he wants with his which seems to be mostly class A drugs but who am I to speculate, we must be, you know sad and sorry, we must say the right things”.

She then went on to end the video mocking, “Kate Garraway, Kate Garraway, dead Derek Jay Slater, whatever.

Commenters on social media responded, one said,

“I normally like this lady, but No, how dare you mock this boys disappearance! Regardless of what he may or may not of done, he is still someone’s child, you heartless boot.

Another  commenter said,

“How dare you, you vile woman, this woman may have lost her son, have some compassion .

Jay’s family have been plagued with online trolls over the last few days with the family pleading with people to stop with the conspiracy theories and accusations that they are in on it, sick people have been hacking their accounts on social media posting fake statuses claiming that Jay’s body has been found.

A family friend said,

I can’t believe some people are actually this sick in the head. There are people hacking my accounts and jays family’s making it pure lies and pretending we are all in it.

In the latest post, someone claimed Jays body had been found in a sickening status posted to facebook, claiming to be a family friend whose facebook had been cloned.

The family friend responded and said, “This isn’t me. This is NOT true. ” with the emoji of a broken heart.
