Jay Slater, 19, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, went missing while holidaying in Tenerife on Monday morning after attending a three day NRG music festival.

Since then, a large search operation has been underway by the Spanish authorities, which include specialist search dogs, mountain rescue teams, helicopters, and drones.

Jay’s last known location was in the ‘Rural de Teno’ park, close to the PR-TF51 hiking trail above the small village of Masca.

Search teams have today been concentrating their search on a ravine that sits at the bottom of the hill of an apartment that Jay is believed to have returned to with two British men.

Since Monday, Jay’s friends have been pleading for help from British Police to help with the search for Jay.

Earlier, Lancashire Constabulary released a statement on the case and said,

“First and foremost, our thoughts are with Jay’s family at this time. They must be going through the most distressing ordeal, not knowing what has happened to their loved one.

“We have specialist officers who are continuing to support Jay’s family.

“Whilst this case falls outside the jurisdiction of UK policing, we have made an offer of support to the Guardia Civil to see if they need any additional resources.

They have confirmed that at this time, they are satisfied that they have the resources they need, but that offer remains open, and they will contact us should that position change.

Once again, our thoughts remain with Jay’s family and friends at this distressing time.”
