The search for missing Jay Slater, 19, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, is entering its fourth day.
Jay has not been seen since he attended a house party miles away from a music event he was attending with friends over the weekend.
His friend recieved a call around 08:50am on Monday morning to say that he was on his way back but had missed his bus and was showing an eleven hour walk back to his holiday apartment on his maps, he had no water and only one per cent left on his phone battery in the middle of nowhere. His last known location was in ‘Rural de Teno’ park, close to the PR-TF51 hiking trail above the small village of Masca.
The local authorities have been out searching the area with specialist search dogs and drones along with mountain rescue teams.
Since Jay’s disappearance, social media appeals have been shared thousands of times all across the world in a bid to help try and find him.
A facebook group was set up under the name Jay Slater Missing – Only Official Group has amassed over 300 thousand followers.
Family members flew out to tenerife to help in the search for Jay and have confirmed a Gofund Me page has been set up by friend Lucy Mae.
The Gofund Me page has reached almost £10,000 since being set up.
Lucy Mae posted to the page,
“Hi everyone my name is Lucy. I have come on holiday to Tenerife to attend the NRG festival with my friend Jay & another friend. On the last day of the festival, I left alone, earlier than everyone else, because I was tired from the weekend.
I woke up to a phone call off Jay at 8:30 AM saying “he was lost in the mountains, he wasn’t aware of his surroundings, he desperately needed a drink & his phone was on 1%”. He had met 2 people on Sunday night and left with them to go to their apartment. Their apartment was miles away from civilisation and in a very secluded location. He left at 8am, and walked half an hour before frantically ringing me when his phone reached 1%.
This was 3 days ago now, and no one has seen or heard from him since. His last location was on an off road track, which was a 10 hour walk from his hotel. The weather conditions up there are terrible for someone in shorts & a t-shirt, both in the day & at night.
He has no water for when it’s warm throughout the day, and he has no coat/suitable clothing for when it’s cold at night. It was 1 degree and extremely windy when I was out looking in the middle of the night. We are all so worried, and we just want him home. Please help if you can and share far and wide. Jay’s mum Debbie fears that someone may have taken her son against his will and has made numerous desperate appeals to find him.
