Police in Blackpool are calling all parents to check where their children have been after incidents of deliberate fires across Bispham.
In a social media post Blackpool Police said,
“Calling all parents of school-aged kids in Blackpool!
If you’re reading this whilst you’re enjoying some well earned peace and quiet, whilst the kids are outside playing this evening, please can you assist us with a quick enquiry?
When your little cherubs get back home, please take the time to ask where they’ve been and what they’ve been up to… Or even better, give them a big sniff to see if their fancy tracksuits stink of smoke or fire!
Very concerningly, we’ve had more reports tonight of youths lighting small fires in Bispham – this is happening whilst even as I type, the brave and hard working folks of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are still battling the blaze at the old DWP building which occurred over the weekend.
The dangers of fire is obvious – people could die. Things get out of hand quickly and without warning.
Please don’t let your child become victim of life changing injuries or worse.
Take action now to stop them getting involved in this behaviour. If you need our help to do this, get in touch.
The investigation for the old DWP building fire remains ongoing – if you do have any information about this, you can call us on 101 quoting Log reference – LC-20240607-1529
