Man Charged With 2022 Greater Manchester Murder

A man has been charged with murder in relation to the death of a man in Old Trafford back in 2022.

At around 3pm on Monday 12 September 2022, police received a report that a man had been found with serious injuries in Penn Park, off Maher Gardens in Old Trafford.

The man, who we can now identify as 51-year-old Headley Barry Thomas, known as Barry, was taken to hospital but sadly died of his injuries.

In a tribute Barry’s family said,

“Our hearts are broken, our world has been altered forever. Forever loved by his family, children, and friends.

“Our brother was prideful, protective, funny, loyal and a caring man with a huge heart to match we are saddened by this news.

“We as a family are searching for answers to this senseless act and to bring closure to a life that’s lost”.Joshua Carroll (06/05/1995) of no fixed abode has been charged with murder.

Joshua Carroll has now been charged with the murder of Barry and will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court later today (Tuesday 11 June).
