A man is due to appear before magistrates after being charged in connection with a serious sexual offence in Dewsbury.
In a social media update, West Yorkshire Police said,
“Amanat Ali Tariq (42) of Wellington Road East, Dewsbury, will appear before the morning session of Leeds Magistrates Court on Wednesday June 12 charged with rape and other offences.
They include two offences of attempted rape, section 18 assault, two offences of fraud and theft.
The 42-year-old was detained to appear before the court after being arrested and charged in connection with a serious sexual assault on a woman in the early hours of Sunday June 9.
The victim continues to be supported by specially trained officers and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
