Police issue warning to anyone who owns a Nissan Navara after an increase in thefts in recent weeks across the North West.
In a social media appeal, Lancashire Police said,
“We are urging Nissan Navara owners to take extra precautions around the security of their vehicles after an increase of offences throughout the North West.
There were three incidents in East Lancashire overnight. They were in Hibson Road, Nelson, Naze Road, Newchurch, and Cherry Tree Way, Helmshore.
Nobody has been arrested at this time. Enquiries are very much ongoing.
Recommended precautions are the use of steering, wheel locks and the use of Faraday bags for storing keys.
Faraday bags can block the signals needed for copying keyless entry systems and can provide that extra level of security in a simple way.
Please double check when locking your vehicles and do not leave valuable items in your vehicles overnight.
If you do have CCTV covering your property, please ensure the lens is free of obscuring cobwebs or dirt and that the date, time and any software used for the system is up to date and you are familiar with using the system and obtaining the footage from it.
As a Constabulary we will continue to do all we can to prevent and stop any emerging crime trends.
