Lancashire Police were called this afternoon to a report of an unexploded ordnance that had been found on Lytham beach by a member of the public.
The member of the public took it to a nearby property before police arrived, a 100 metre cordon was put in place whilst emergency services and colleagues from the army bomb disposal unit dealt with the incident.
In an update posted on social media, Fylde Police said,
“We advised earlier today of a cordon in place between Clifton Drive North and Devonshire Road in Lytham due to an unexploded ordnance which had been found on the beach and taken to an address in Clifton Drive North.
We can now update that this has now concluded and the cordon has been lifted.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
