Greater Manchester Police have made its 57th arrest in their operation in bringing to justice those that exploit children across the city.
In a statement made today, Greater Manchester Police said,
“The multiagency Operation Green Jacket – investigating non-recent child sexual exploitation (CSE) in Manchester – has made its 57th arrest.
This morning, (Tuesday 28 May), at an address in Manchester city centre, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, and causing and inciting the sexual exploitation of a child.
He remains in police custody for questioning.
Operation Green Jacket is our multi-agency operation, launched in 2019, into allegations of non-recent multi-victim multi-offender CSE in South Manchester in the early 2000s.
The operation is led by our Child Sexual Exploitation Major Investigation Team (CSE MIT), which is a resource comprising of specially trained police officers and staff dedicated to investigating the most serious and complex cases.
Detective Inspector Eleanor Humphries said: “Our investigations continue to progress at a pace which is suitable for our victims and survivors, whose care remains our top priority. We continue to work closely with key partners, particularly Manchester City Council and specialist support agencies to ensure they feel wholly supported throughout and also beyond our investigations.
“Alongside this, crucial work is ongoing to identify, pursue, and disrupt offenders, ensuring those responsible for exploiting young people in South Manchester in the early 2000s face justice.”
