Lancashire Police have reassured members of the public that there is nothing to be concerned about after man seen running through town centre brandishing a machete.
In a statement released today, Burnley and Padiham Police said,
“Today at approximately 3pm members of the public may have seen an increase of officers within the Manchester Road/Ormerod Street area of Burnley Town Centre.
Members of the public may also have seen a male in this area running with a machete.
We are glad to update you that the male was dealt with swiftly and efficiently and no members of the public or officers where injured.
There is nothing further to be concerned about as this was a stand alone incident and a 49 year old male has been arrested for offences committed and will be dealt with appropriately.
