Emergency Services Responding to Fleetwood Explosion

Emergency services are currently working alongside Electricity North West  after an explosion this evening in Fleetwood.

In a social media post, Fleetwood area Police said,

“At 7:20pm. today, we were called to reports of an explosion in the Broadway area of Fleetwood. We believe this to be related to an underground electrical issue.

Officers are at the scene along with the Fire Service and the Electricity company, and a safety cordon has been put in place. The electricity company is currently investigating the situation.

In a social media post, Electricity North West said,

“We have been made aware of an incident in Fleetwood, FY7, which has caused a large area powercut to many.

We have remotely restored the vast majority of properties, but we are aware there are still 350 properties off at the moment.

The emergency services are aiding us in making the area safe, and we’ll commence repaires to restore the rest of the properties as soon as we can. We’ll keep you updated once we know more. Thanks, ENWL.

In an update by ENWL shortly before 1am they had confirmed that the electricity had been restored to all properties in the affected area and thanked the residents for their patience.
