Police in South Ribble have been responding to calls of an elderly woman who had been targeted by bogus roofers.
The incident happened in the Walton-Le-Dale area whereby the victim was threatened after refusing to pay money to the rogue traders, it is alleged that they attempted to charge a large quantity of money and threatened to smash the elderly womans windows if she didn’t pay.
In a social media post, South Ribble Police said,
This evening, our team has been assisting an elderly female who has been targeted by bogus roofers who noticed her roof needed some work doing to it.
They said they would have a look at the work and then tried to charge her a lot of money for giving a quote, when she challenged this amount they then lowered the price, when she refused to pay they threatened to damage her windows so we have been assisting her to ensure she is safe and to catch the offenders.
Sadly, bogus traders target vulnerable people, but we would encourage you to notify the police and not hand over your money without a proper contract and agreement for doing any work to your property.
