We’re sure the police have heard it all before, but for one driver failing to stop at a red light in front of an armed response vehicle was just silly, but it got even more silly when he told officers the cars brakes weren’t working and that’s why they didn’t stop, resulting in it being seized and the driver reported.
Here’s just some of the work the Police have been up to keeping the roads of Lancashire safe for other road users.
In a social media update, Lancs Police Specialist Ops said,
“Here’s just a small taster of what our Specialist Operations Team have been up to in the last 24 hours.
One of our Armed Response Vehicles was stopped at a red light in Nelson when a Black Honda Civic drove straight past us and through the light. We followed the vehicle, and when it eventually stopped, the driver explained they went through the red light as none of their breaks were working. We seized the vehicle and the driver has been reported for a number of offences.
We stopped a Silver Citroen Van at Burton-on-Kendal services on the M6, the van had a bald tyre, and we were surprised to find a passenger hiding in the back of the van with no seat, or seatbelt. The driver and passenger were both issued with Traffic Offence Reports.
We stopped a Ford Transit Van at Charnock Richard Services in Chorley and found the driver was in fact disqualified. The driver was reported at the roadside and the vehicle recovered.
We’ll be continuing to work hard to keep Lancashire’s roads safe this bank holiday weekend. Have a great weekend everyone.
