A man has been charged with firearms offences after armed police swoop on taxi.
The incident happened as part of a planned operation by Merseyside Police on the afternoon of Tuesday 21st May, a taxi travelling in the city had its tyres shot out as police arrested a man in possession of a gun.
In an update posted by Merseyside Police, they said, “We have charged a 26-year-old man with possession of a firearm following an incident on Walton Lane in Liverpool yesterday, Tuesday 21 May.
Christopher James, of Collin Road, Bidston, Wirral, has also been charged with possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm when prohibited for life.
He was remanded into custody to appear at Sefton adult reman court today, Wednesday 22 May.
The gun that was recovered is being forensically examined.
