Man Charged With Canal Tow Path Rape In Merseyside

Merseyside Police have charged a man after two girls were seriously sexually assaulted on a canal tow path in Sefton, Merseyside, on Saturday evening.

Merseyside Police in a statement, said,

“Detectives have today, Monday 20 May, charged a man with child sex offences following an incident in Sefton.

We received a report on Saturday evening, 18 May, that a man had sexually assaulted a girl along a canal path.

John Lovell, 59 years, of Othello Close, Bootle, has been charged with two counts of assaulting a girl under aged 13 by penetration with a part of your body and assaulting a girl under 14 by touching.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date
