Appeal After Man Killed In M58 Horror Crash

A man has sadly died after a multi-vehicle collision on the M58 motorway yesterday involving two lorries.

In a statement released today Lancashire Police said,

“We’ve got some sad news to bring you and we’re asking for your help after a collision on the M58 near Skelmersdale yesterday.

You will have seen that the motorway was shut for several hours and sadly a car driver died in the collision.

Emergency services were called at 12.53pm yesterday (17th May) to the westbound carriageway of the motorway near to junction four.

Our officers attended and found that a collision involving two articulated large goods vehicles and two cars had taken place.

Very sadly, the driver of one of the cars was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Formal identification of the driver has yet to take place, but he is believed to be a man in his 40s.

We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from either side of the motorway between 12.40pm and 1pm to contact police on 101, or email SCIU@lancashire.police.uk quoting log 0620 of 17th May 2024.
