A man has been charged with multiple driving offences after an investigation by detectives into the collision that occurred on Onslow Road, in Layton, Blackpool at the weekend.
A Ford Transit van collided with a police dog handlers patrol car after failing to stop for officers earlier on in the evening, extensive damage was caused to the van, police vehicle and rear garden wall of a residential property.
The road was closed for several hours whilst recovery went underway.
Lancashire Police have today released an update, a spokesperson for the force said, “A man has been charged after a collision between a Ford Transit van and a police vehicle.
On Sunday, one of our police vehicles was involved in a damage only collision with a Ford Transit van on Onslow Road, in Blackpool.
Thankfully, the occupants of both vehicles, including a police dog, were uninjured.
Two men were arrested at the scene, and following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service:
Mark Kirkwood, 27 of Gynn Avenue, was charged with dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, failure to provide a sample, failing to stop and driving whilst disqualified.
He was remanded to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court yesterday (May 14).
The second man who was arrested, has since been released – no further action.
