Man With Over 11k Of Class A Drugs Rugby Tackled On Accrington Park

A man has been remanded after being chased by police officers from the Hyndburn Taskforce Team after being spotted in a park trying to avoid officers.

The incident happened on Bullough Park in the town yesterday afternoon, (Tuesday 14th May) after a small foot chase the male was rugby tackled to the floor and officers discovered over eleven thousand pounds worth of class A drugs on his possession.

In an ever so witty social media update, Hyndburn Police said, “Yesterday afternoon, the Hyndburn Taskforce Team have arrested and Remanded a Mr David Pye at Bullough Park, Accrington.

The unlucky individual has been sighted by Taskforce and decided to try his luck attempting to outrun the officers. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t anticipate that the team was well fueled on coffee, and after a short foot chase, the David Pye was eventually rugby tackled near to the playground.

When Pye was searched, officers found in his possession over £11,000 in Class A drug’s and a large quantity of cash.

The Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team will not tolerate drug dealing, especially in our parks, and we’ll continue to actively target those involved in crime.
