Man Who Knocked On Preston Door For Glass Of Water Before Stealing Wallet Charged

A man has been charged after an investigation into a spate of burglaries and attempted burglaries across Preston at the weekend.

Police received reports on Sunday of a man entering properties through unlocked doors at properties in Fulwood, Ashton-on-Ribble, and Ingol areas of the city.

At one property, the Burglar asked for a glass of water, and as the occupants of the house assisted with his request, the suspect stole a wallet from the property.

Lancashire Police have since released an update. In a social media post, Preston Police said, ” Yesterday, we told you that we had arrested a man following a spate of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Preston.

It relates to reports of incidents at addresses in Fulwood, Ingol, and Ashton-on-Ribble on Sunday, 12th May, 2024, in which a wallet was stolen.

A 51 year old man was arrested by the South Residential Burglary Team on Monday (13th May, 2024).

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Alan Eastham, 51, of Maynard Street, Preston has been charged with two counts of burglary in a dwelling and fraud by false representation.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear before Preston Magistrates Court this morning.
